Thou Shall Vote

Election day is right around the corner. This Election will be one of the most important elections in American history. Several Congressional, State, and Local positions are up for grabs. Most importantly the President of the United States will be voted upon.

I am not telling you who to vote for. I just recommend that you look back on how America has been running for the last four years, do your research, and pray about it. As for me, I do not want to live in a country with a President that supports White Supremacy, has zero respect for women, and shows horrible leadership during a pandemic.

The right to vote in America was not initially granted to many people. They had to fight for it. Women did not earn the right to vote until 1920. The Voting Rights Acts did not go into law until 1965. The act outlawed discriminatory voting practices, mostly aimed at African Americans. With so much voter suppression still in place, many of us are still fighting to vote fairly.

Early voting has started in many states. So as the election date nears, make sure you have a plan. If you’re going to the polls, be sure to clear your schedule, and prepare for a long wait time! If you are mailing in your ballot double check that it is filled out correctly and turned in on time. It does not matter how you vote, just make sure you do it! The state of this country and it’s future depends on it. Your vote is your voice, so do not be silenced!

My prayers is that we can bring America back to a place that puts God first! As I always remind you guys, God is love. That means me must also put love first. Even though our President refuses to denounce hate, we as a country will not! Even though this is the United States of America, our country has never been more divided. With this upcoming election, we have the power to change that! YOUR VOTE MATTERS! Be Blessed and I’ll see you guys at the polls!
